If you are concerned about your child or teenager running away from home or they have already run away from home.

  1. Listen to what they say, don't be judgmental. Say that you love them, no matter what. Give them a hug! Raise their self-esteem.
  2. If they won't talk to you, maybe they would talk to a friend or sibling, or perhaps write down how they feel. Re-assure them that this happens to others.
  3. Encourage them to get help from others, such as a GP or the Talk, Don’t..Walk project. Remind them that confidentiality is taken seriously.
