Over 100,000 young people run away from home or care every year. Over the course of a year, this amounts to 120,000 overnight runaway incidents; of which 77,000 are young people under 16.
Although most young people who run away from home are found and returned, a few remain at high risk of repeat running away for some time afterwards. This means that any attempt, however minor it seems to be, should be taken seriously.
